Afkar is part of one of the biggest roadshows of Microsoft Gulf called Open Door; a two day event with the latest on Microsoft Technology held in Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, UAE and Bahrain. Afkar was asked to deliver a unique experience to the attendees of Open Door in interacting with the speakers in the session. We developed an add-ons service on Microsoft office 365 and Afkar kicked off as “Office 365 extra”.

Office365 includes business-class platform and is backed by Microsoft where Office365Extra offers a layer of solutions and services on top of Office365. Microsoft and the attendees were very pleased with Afkar and that was a huge success and the event was rated high by the attendees.
The event was attended by a considerable number of IT professionals and Managers from both government and private sector, the biggest number of attendees was in Qatar, more than 700 attendees participated at the event. In Kuwait also the event attracted more than 600 attendees while 500 in Oman.
It is worth mentioning that the Open Door is Microsoft’s premier technical education event aimed to offering technology professionals and decision makers the chance to explore and connect with a broad set of current and soon-to-be-released Microsoft technologies, tools, platforms and services. An all-encompassing 2-day event, Open Door is the perfect venue for customers and partners to engage and interact, while learning about Microsoft’s breadth of solutions, technologies and innovations.
By the end of the event, Microsoft recognized some of its top partners and customers and presented them with awards. Mamoun Al Bishtawi SMS&P Lead Qatar, Naim Yazbeck, Country Manager Qatar, Bruno Delamarre, SMS&P Director at Microsoft Gulf, and Samer Abu Ltaif, General Manager at Microsoft Gulf presented the awards to partners and customers at a Gala Dinner ceremony on February 7.
During the awarding; Afkar was nominated as the Best Innovation Partner by Microsoft. It worth mentioning also that on October 2007, Microsoft has recognized Afkar as the best partner in Qatar in web site and Intranet development capabilities on top of MOSS. Afkar is also the only Qatari company that has specialization in Information Worker competency, which entails executing applications based on and associated with a band of Microsoft SharePoint.
