
Afkar and Microsoft lead a revolution in management of Internet websites in Qatar
In contribution the State of Qatar initiatives towards knowledge-based economy and society, Afkar Information Technology and Microsoft Qatar jointly held a press conference at Mövenpick Tower, where they announced organizing a joint seminar under the title: “Harnessing the Power of Your Website.” The seminar shall be attended by IT managers at ministries and corporations in Qatar in addition to a number of specialists, declared in the joint conference by Mr. Mamoun Eregat, Afkar Business Development Manager and Mr. Mamoun Bashtawi, Partners Account Manager at Microsoft Qatar.
In this regard, Mr. Eregat declared that the seminar will be held in cooperation with Microsoft Qatar on 18th February 2008 at Sheraton Doha.

Mr. Eregrt said that, with the rapid growth Qatar is witnessing in various fields, it is time that real consideration has to be given to activate the Internet websites of these governmental and private sectors alike. He said that these organizations have to ensure that their websites are meeting the needs of clients, and making available more transparency and interaction between the daily operations, on one hand, and the employees, suppliers and clients, on the other hand. Afkar Business Development Manager went on to say that governance of websites has lately been prominently addressed in the State of Qatar, especially after the Supreme Council for Telecommunications & Information Technology has inaugurated the new phase of the E-government project, represented by

Mr. Eregat added that participants in the seminar are going to get knowledge on the latest technologies of Microsoft in managing and developing Internet websites, especially using the latest version of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server. "Afkar has already used this product in developing websites for Qatar Red Crescent, Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Supreme Judiciary Council, Qatar Public Works Authority 'Ashghal' and Qatar Authority for Charitable Activities," he added, "and we are currently developing websites for Qatari Armed Forces and Qatari Awqaf Authority, in addition to several other websites." He said that some of these viable experiences shall be presented and discussed in the upcoming seminar.
On the other hand, Mr. Mamoun Bashtawi pointed out that SharePoint has caused a real revolution in websites management all over the world, due to its unique simplicity which, in turn, enhances the website and makes updating with new content very simple. He stressed that Afkar Information Technology is considered a strategic partner for Microsoft Qatar in this respect.
